The Australian Institue for Teaching and School Leadership {AISTL} Standards describe the 7 standards that are essential for creating a successful teaching enviroment. They outline the expected abilities of teachers through their career.
The seven AITSL Standards are separated into three domains;
Included in each standard are focus areas which further define teaching knowledge, practice and engagement. The Standards are then categorised into four descriptors which define the professional career stages of teachers. These are;
